Mussulo, also known as Palmeirinhas-Mussulo sandbank, is a coastal strip and sandbank, shaped like a cape, formed by sediments from the Cuanza River, on the southern coast of the province of Luanda, in Angola.
They are approximately 30 km long.
The Mussulo coastal strip is home to Mussulo Bay, which has three islands and an islet inside it, namely Cazanga Island (or Padres Island), Pássaros Island, Desterro Island and Quissanga Island.

A place used as a resting and leisure area for people from Luanda and visitors, the beaches of Mussulo have coastal vegetation, characterized by many coconut trees.
On the other side of the sandbank, facing the Atlantic Ocean, there are huge stretches of white sand beaches.
Mussulo is also a place for water sports. Regarding Mussulo Island, it is interesting to note that it attracts visitors from all over Angola and abroad.
With regard to the national territory, it is visited mainly by the upper classes of Luanda, who usually spend weekends and holidays there.
Regarding the distance, it is only 30 km from the capital, heading south.

In addition to options for sea bathing, the Mussulo peninsula is also very popular with sportspeople who want to surf, for example.
You should know that within the same local peninsula there are options for all tastes.
For example, there is a side that faces the lagoon, where there are some restaurants, bars and other leisure activities.
In this location, the water tends to be calmer, favoring swimmers who prefer more comfort.

In addition, when leaving the peninsula towards Mussulo Island, there is even more calm for those who want to relax.
This can be done in just a few minutes by boat, and is ideal for those who go with family or friends and want to spend time at the beach.
The place is known for having luxury accommodations, beach parties and landscapes, which are incredible.
