January 31 - National Environment Day - Ambiente e Boas Praticas

National Environment Day is celebrated on January 31st, because it was on that date that the 1st Nature Conservation Week ended (26th - 31st January 1976), held in Luanda, with the participation of representatives from invited delegations from Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe.

To mark the anniversary, the Ministry of the Environment, in partnership with environmental associations and other partners, carries out a series of activities.
These activities aim to draw attention to the political and social sectors about the need to adopt sustainable measures and standards of living that promote balanced management of natural resources and improve the quality of life of populations.
Given the need to improve the quality of the environment and thus the quality of life of the populations, on this date, people are encouraged to think of the environment in all their components.

Therefore, it is necessary to take a critical approach and reflection on political problems (violation of human rights, lack or inadequate legislation, wars, etc.), social (food security, population growth, lack of urbanization of cities, etc. .), economic (excessive exploitation of natural resources, unemployment, poverty, etc.) that have negative effects on the biophysical (natural) component of the environment and the quality of life of the human being.
