Tourism will reclassify hotel units in 2025

The Ministry of Tourism will carry out, from 2025, work to reclassify the hotel units in the country, with a view to conforming the attribution of the number of stars in accordance with the quality of the services provided.

According to the Minister of Tourism, who spoke during the ceremony to reclassify the Hotel Diamante to 4 stars, for the In order to achieve this aim, the sector will count on the close collaboration of the association body of hotel and resort units of Angola, in order to sensitize its associates to comply with the recommendations and requirements necessary for the classification of hotel developments.

In turn, the national director of Tourist Qualification and Licensing, Zaira de Assunção, said that, currently, the detailed monitoring of more than 15 hotel units across the country, taking into account current legislation.

He mentioned that, during verification visits to hotel units, they will the assigned classification requirements and the establishments that do not meet the required conditions will be disqualified.

Remember that the law in force requires that all necessary requirements for the classification of enterprises be observed hotels, such as the quality of services, decoration, infrastructure, location, number of restaurants, suites, among others.

"Many units are classified and at the same time over time they lose quality and stop providing the services for which they were initially classified, hence the need for reclassification", he stated.

Zaira de Assunção explained that, in the case of Hotel Diamante, at the time of its inauguration in 2015, they were made recommendations that should be observed, but until 2018 they were not complied with, a fact that forced the sector to remove a star in this unit hotel industry.
