Last Friday, February 20, an event dedicated to public-private cooperation for the development of tourism in Angola was held, promoted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Angola (AMCHAM Angola) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism.

The meeting brought together members of the Executive, representatives of the business sector, international partners, and diplomatic entities, and was also attended by the former Vice President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa.

In his speech, the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, congratulated the organizing institutions and thanked the various entities involved in the process of boosting the sector. The government official highlighted that, with the objective of presenting investment opportunities in a structured and clear manner, the document “Tourism Doing Business Angola” was created.

According to him, the aforementioned instrument will be launched during ITB Berlin, considered the world’s largest tourism trade fair, taking place from March 3 to 5, where Angola will participate as the Host Country.

For his part, the Executive Director of AMCHAM Angola, Neil Breslin Jr., thanked the participants for their presence and emphasized the joint effort behind the organization of the event, underlining the importance of international cooperation and private sector involvement in consolidating national tourism.
The President of AMCHAM Angola, Pedro Godinho, highlighted the strategic role of tourism as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and economic diversification.

He further stated that Angola brings together distinctive attributes — such as natural landscapes, biodiversity, culture, music, and gastronomy — which can position the country as a competitive global destination, provided that this potential is transformed into structured and sustainable tourism products.
