After the presentation of a study started six months ago between technicians from the institution, from Casais Angola and consultants from the Austrian company Doppelmayr, the governor explained that the study proposal was made to GPL for the metropolitan area of the city of Luanda, in a private initiative.
Guaranteed that the project will follow the procedures to be approved by the Executive.
During the presentation meeting of the study called the Luanda Urban Teleférico project (TUL), a promotional video was shown.
According to the project consultant, Pedro de Carvalho, the implementation of the tourist TUL, scheduled for the first quarter of 2017, will be carried out, with financing from the Austrian company Doppelmayr.
"It's a consortium of banks that will finance the project", he said, highlighting that two cable car lines are being planned, the first leaving from the Bungo Train Station, passing through São Paulo, Sambizanga, Complexo da Cidadela and arriving to Largo das Escolas, due to the transfer of passengers there. The second line leaves Largo das Escolas to the Prenda neighborhood.
The Casais Angola consultant also announced that the system is expected to transport around eight thousand passengers per hour, towards the North and South of Luanda.
"20 passengers will be transported in each of the cabins, with 160 cabins circulating daily, equivalent to 150 buses", he explained.
Pedro de Carvalho guaranteed that the route between the new Bungo train station and Prenda is estimated to take more than 15 minutes by car, passing through São Paulo to Prenda.
The cable car, said the Casais de Angola consultant, works with a central engine, because the cables only transport the cabins.
Casais Angola has planned the construction and installation of the Luanda Urban Cable Car in two years, and it should have the operating rights for three years.
"If everything goes well and is approved in time, we are planning to start in the first quarter of 2027”, he said.
The cable car is aerial cable transport.
